ESPN's Katz praises UIC as a Cinderella to watch

ESPN college basketball analyst Andy Katz mentions UIC as a team to watch in the Horizon League and a possible Cinderella candidate in next year’s NCAA tournament.

Katz says that the senior-dominated backcourt, led by Cedrick Banks and Martell Bailey, will help the Flames win the Horizon League. The article also quotes Wisconsin-Milwaukee coach and Butler coach Todd Lickliter talking about the Flames being the favorites in the Horizon League and what it takes to advance in the NCAA tournament.

It should remind Flames fans of another senior-rich backcourt of Mark Miller and Anthony Coomes in 1997-98 when UIC reached its first NCAA tournament.

FARMER INJURED: Former Flames walk-on Steve Farmer, who was trying to hook up with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings as a tight end, tore his left ACL at practice a little over a week ago and has been placed on injured reserve and will be out for the season.
